Yoon Dong-hee, 20, a second-year outfielder for the Lotte Giants of the Korean Baseball Organization, has opened up the possibility of becoming the Giants’ new leadoff hitter. With her excellent hitting ability, base running ability, and defense, Yoon is making the most of her role on the team and gradually establishing herself as a central player on the team.

Lotte won the 13th game of the season against the SSG Landers 15-4 on April 17 at Sajik Stadium in Busan. Lotte swept their three-game home series against SSG, extending their winning streak to four games with the sweep. The sweep was Lotte’s first against SSG since the organization’s inception (March 2021). Lotte hasn’t earned a sweep since SSG’s inception. Lotte’s sweep was the first in five years and two months since June 2018, when they were part of SSG’s predecessor, the SK Wyverns.

LOTTE set new team records for most hits (20) and most runs (15) in a single game this season. The LOTTE offense exploded, with five multi-hit hitters, including Jeon Jun-woo (4 hits), Yoon Dong-hee, Kang-nam Yoo and Goodrum (3 hits), and Ahn Kwon-soo (2 hits).

Yoon played a pivotal role in the team’s victory with her consistent performance. Yoon started the game as Lotte’s leadoff hitter and right fielder and finished the game with an impressive 3-for-5 performance, including two doubles, four RBIs, four runs scored, and one walk. Notably, Yoon hit all three of her hits as doubles, marking her first career three-hit game.

In the top of the first inning, Yoon Dong-hee calmly picked off a pitch from SSG starter Oh Won-seok and drew a walk. She came home on a single by Jeon Jun-woo, the fourth batter of the inning, to give the team the lead. In her second at-bat of the inning, Yoon was retired on a grounder in front of the third baseman.

Yoon didn’t stop there. In the fourth inning, Yoon hit a two-run double to put Lotte on the board. Yoon lightly pushed a pitch from Oh Won-seok to land just inside the right-field foul line. Yoon came around to score another run on a single by Yoo Kang-nam, giving the team its fourth run.

Yoon also created a scoring opportunity of her own in the sixth inning. Yoon again singled to right field and stole second. She scored again when Jeon Jun-woo singled. In the seventh inning, Yoon reached first base on a fielding error by the SSG infielder.

Yoon Dong-hee got the big hit in the eighth inning. Yoon hit a double to left-center field in the eighth inning to bring home teammates Noh Jin-hyuk and Jeong Hoon.

Yoon has firmly established herself as Lotte’s center fielder this season. Lotte manager Larry Sutton speaks highly of Yoon’s hitting ability and has been using her as a starter. 먹튀검증

Yoon has been hitting well of late, raising her season batting average to .303 (83-for-274) through 17 games. Yoon is expected to join seniors Ahn Chi-hong, Jeon Jun-woo, and junior Kim Min-seok as the team’s top individual batting averages if he gets regular at-bats.
