McNair has faith in Murray.
Sacramento Kings general manager Monte McNair spoke with NBC Sports California on Sunday (Nov. 17). During the interview, McNair expressed his confidence in Keegan Murray.
Murray was selected by Sacramento with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Sacramento made the pick on a whim, believing in his ability to run the offense. Sacramento was not wrong.
Murray averaged 23.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in the Las Vegas Summer League and was named the league’s MVP. Seeing his potential, the Sacramento coaching staff gave him the starting job. 안전놀이터
Murray had a successful rookie season last season, averaging 12.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 41.1 percent shooting from three-point range. For his efforts, he was named to the All-Rookie First Team.
McNair also has his eye on Murray.
“Keegan Murray is a top-five pick,” McNair said. He also had a great rookie season. We don’t think his development will be steady. There will be bumps in the road. But he’s working hard to get better. The more he can do on the court, the better he will be for our team.”
As McNair said, Murray has a never-ending drive to improve. Recognizing this, Sacramento head coach Mike Brown invited him to play in Summer League again this year. Murray took him up on the offer and showed off his firepower, exploding for 41 points in this year’s Summer League.
“Coach Mike Brown asked Murray to play in Summer League,” McNair said. Coach Brown told him to dunk in transition and be responsible for off-the-dribble and clutch shooting. “Murray, being Murray, said, ‘Coach, I got it,'” he recalled.
Sacramento made the playoffs last season for the first time in 17 years. They were upset in the first round by the defending champion Golden State Warriors.
Sacramento is aiming higher. Murray’s growth in his second season will be key.
